Guided tours are organised during the summer to introduce visitors to the history, art and culture of Domaso and its surrounding area. The surrounding villages are filled with churches and noble baroque palazzos, 19th century villas, 15th century and 16th century frescos and Lombard Romanesque masterpieces that bear witness to an important past, rich in history and culture. From Domaso, it is easy to reach the famous resorts of Bellagio and Varenna. There are also numerous folkloristic and food events in the area. The village festivals with their games, but also the Sagre dei Crotti (Crotti Festivals) of Stazzona in August and Chiavenna in September, will allow you to taste the food specialities of the Lario and Valtellina: polenta, pizzoccheri (pasta) and selvaggina di pelo (furred game) accompanied of course by the finest local red wines. In the village there are numerous restaurants and pizzerias to satisfy any palate.
On Lake Como you can visit luxurious villas dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries such as Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio, Villa Erba, Villa d'Este in Cernobbio and Villa Carlotta in Tremezzina. You can also admire the historic monuments in the cities of Como and Milan. There are also boat trips on the lake for enjoying and admiring the lake in all its beauty. Medieval and Renaissance castles such as the remains of the Medeghino Castle in the famous Giardino del Merlo in Musso, or the Forte di Fuentes and Montecchio Nord in Colico. Visit museums such as the Museum of the “Barca Lariana” (Lake Como boat) in Pianello del Lario or the Museum of the End of the War in Dongo. Each town and village also offers enchanting churches, beautiful palazzos and charming historic centres that are well worth discovering and visiting.
