CAMELLIA: THE SYMBOL OF LAKE COMO

CAMELLIA: THE SYMBOL OF LAKE COMO

Sweet April on Lake Como: the flowering of the Camellia.

The Camellia flower is mainly widespread in Asia and the best known and most cultivated species is the Camellia Sinensis, and an excellent tea is obtained from its dried buds.

This wonderful flower, representative of Lake Como, arrives in Europe since 1700 and over the years the transformation into flowers of different shapes and colors has been spectacular. To date, their classification is carried out on the basis of color, shape, number of petals and their characteristics. Thanks to Camellia, cosmetic products can be produced: specifically, the oil obtained from pressing the seeds of Camellia Japonica has protective and emollient properties.

For years now, in the month of April, reviews and events dedicated to the flowering of the Camellia have been held, involving the splendid Villa Carlotta and other residences in the center of the lake including Villa Melzi, Villa Monastero and our fabulous Palazzo Gallio just two kilometers from Domaso .

Its flowering enriches and distinguishes the landscape of the entire Lake Como with its colors and its elegance, it is impossible not to notice its presence!
