From Piccolo Camping to the Sanctuary of San Miro: a dream walk

One of the most important characteristics of Lake Como is to offer visitors some of the most beautiful excursions between lake landscapes and mountain panoramas within a few kilometers.

Starting from Domaso it is possible to admire the beauties of the lake until you immerse yourself in the woods above Sorico reaching the Sanctuary of San Miro which houses precious works of art from the 15th-16th centuries.

Leaving Piccolo Camping on the lakefront side, and continuing in the direction of Sorico, you can face a first flat stretch - also accessible to the disabled and wheelchairs - of about 4.5 km, admiring the lake beauties but not only!

You will find yourself face to face with Monte Legnone and the mountains of the westernmost sector of the Orobie Alps, which overlook Colico and are reflected in the waters of the lake in all their grandeur.

You will see the Valtellina peaks rising on the horizon on the right, and Mount Berlinghera on the extreme left, without forgetting the mouth of the River Mera which gives rise to our beautiful Lake Como.

Passing right through Gera Lario, still along the lakefront, you reach the church of Santo Stefano in Sorico where you can then follow the signs for the Sanctuary of San Miro, 900 meters away and with a difference in altitude of about 150 meters. Obviously the ascent to the Sanctuary will not be equipped for wheelchairs, but will be accessible via the state road with one's own means.

Following the mule track that climbs towards the mountain, the cave where San Miro lived can be found on the way and continuing the climb you reach the portico that opens onto the churchyard of the Sanctuary.

From here it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view of the first stretch of Lake Como to the right and the Pian di Spagna Nature Reserve to the left.

A walk that can be tackled by young and old!
