ALTA VIA DEI MONTI LARIANI

ALTA VIA DEI MONTI LARIANI

The via dei Monti Lariani is a trek that allows you to follow the traces of the ancient settlements and enjoy the wonderful views encountered along this hiking route that draws the western shore of Lake Como. A suggestive hiking route consisting largely of paths and mule tracks, also suitable for families if traveled in stages.

From Cernobbio, with its 125 km, it connects various localities scattered along the mountains of the western shore of Lake Como, up to Sorico. To be precise, from Cernobbio you reach Val d'Intelvi (28 km), from Val d'Intelvi you reach Val Menaggio (26 km), then from Val Menaggio you reach Val Albano (24 km) and finally the Valley Albano concludes the route arriving in Sorico (46 km.); the whole is divided into bands ranging from 600 to 1200 meters above sea level.

Many of the stages of the Via were once pastures used as settlements by the populations of the Lario, who had to manage the movement of livestock from the village to the mountains and the Alps, hence the name "Via dei Monti Lariani": a road that remaining at an average height of one thousand meters, it connected these ancient settlements - now partly still active - reconverted for tourist use or still abandoned and destroyed by time.

La Via offers exclusive panoramas and wonderful glimpses of the mountains in the area. Thanks to the CAI of Como, the route is well marked and divided into four sections that can also be covered in partial sections, thanks to the presence of numerous refugee structures along the route where it is possible to make short stays to recover strength and enjoy the unspoiled nature.
